Here's the shocking truth... How to use the Name!
The name of Jesus, is used in two ways.
- In prayer to the Father: John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
- John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
Prayer is to be made to the Father in the name of Jesus. Most of us know this. This has been preached and teached (pardon the churchy slang), so much that in most Christian circles we know to pray to the Father in Jesus name.
We are not to pray to Jesus or the Holy spirit. The scripture verses above are from the mouth of Jesus himself and witnessed by not 3 but 4 of the apostles, Matthew, Mark, Dr. Luke and John.
I remember for many years, I tried to get Mary Jo, my mother in law, to stop praying to Jesus and pray to the Father in Jesus name. I never could break her no matter how hard I tried to teach her the word. But she was taught to pray to Jesus from a young age, and no one besides myself ever tried to correct her.
This is when I realized and you should realize that your judgement or my judgement, or any other persons opinion is of no value. It is what the word of God says that matters.
When you pray say "our Father", Jesus stands between you and God, in his high priestly ministry.
Jesus, declares, from John 16:23, whatsoever you ask in that Name the Father WILL give it to us. That verse is not wishful thinking, it's absolute!
